Washington DC trip

Orientation is still going great! Every day we are learning new things and growing more and more excited! It's hard to believe, but we only have 2 weeks left here! And exactly one month from today on October 17th we should be arriving in Tokyo! Crazy!!

Last Friday we all did something a little different: we took a day trip to Washington DC. Trent and I had never been before! We had a great time with great friends exploring the capital, engaging people of different cultures, and experiencing the feeling of being lost in a huge, unknown city - perfect preparation for Tokyo! It was a lot of fun.. check out a couple pictures below:

Please continue to pray for our perseverance in finishing strong these last two weeks and saying yet another set of bittersweet goodbyes... for more prayer requests, please see the right side of the page.

We love you, and we're so thankful for you!!

Pray for Japan

On Sunday evenings we meet together as a large group for a time of worship, and every week the service emulates a different culture's style of worship. This past Sunday a group of about 15 Korean men and women who are here at training led us in a traditional Korean-style service. We sang in Korean, they prayed in Korean, one woman sang a special song in Korean, one man gave his testimony of how he came to know Christ as a teenager through a missionary to Korea. At the end they gave us this statistic.. at the end of the 19th century there was not a single known believer in all of Korea. Now after over a century of missionary work there almost 1/3 of the population knows Christ. God called, people were obedient, and as a result that country is changed. Now, after the US they send out the most missionaries in the world. What an awesome example and reminder of why we are here.

I could not help thinking through the service: I want Japan to have a story like that! I want to see God move that way in Tokyo, to see hope reach the people and keep spreading. Trent and I count it such a privilege to be able to go and share in Tokyo, but we know that nothing will happen there unless God makes it happen, not us. Please pray with us that God would open the eyes of the Japanese people, so they will see their need for Him and find hope that they have never known.

Ephesians 3:20 says that God "is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." Please believe that with us and ask and expect to see God work in Tokyo.

We love you and are so thankful for you! For a complete list of prayer requests and praises, see the right side of the page.
